CareStop Hope After Loss Fund
Providing dignity, compassion, and financial relief after an unimaginable loss.
Losing a loved one to suicide is devastating. For some families, the grief is compounded when life insurance benefits are denied, delayed, excluded, or insufficient to cover funeral and burial expenses. The CareStop Hope After Loss Fund was created to help ensure that families do not have to face this financial burden alone.

Why This Matters to Us
At CareStop Foundation, we believe compassion must extend beyond mental health awareness. It must also reach families during the painful aftermath of suicide loss.
Families experiencing this type of loss may suddenly face funeral expenses while coping with grief, unanswered questions, and significant emotional distress. When insurance does not provide the expected financial support, these families may be left with an immediate and overwhelming burden.
We are passionate about standing beside these families with dignity, understanding, and practical assistance. The CareStop Hope After Loss Fund represents our commitment to turning compassion into action. Our goal is not only to help with eligible funeral expenses, but also to connect surviving family members with grief support, mental health resources, and a caring community.
The Financial Burden Families Face
A death by suicide leaves a family grieving while often confronting immediate and unexpected funeral expenses.
According to the latest available data, 48,789 people died by suicide across the United States in 2025. In Georgia alone, 1,648 people died by suicide in 2024.
The National Funeral Directors Association reports that the median cost of a funeral is approximately $8,300 with viewing and burial or $6,280 with cremation. Based on these figures, families across the United States may collectively face between $306 million and $405 million in funeral expenses related to suicide loss in a single year. In Georgia, families may face between $10 million and $14 million. These projections are estimates only.
These estimates represent funeral expenses alone. They do not include lost income, grief counseling, transportation, childcare, medical expenses, or the long-term emotional and financial effects experienced by surviving loved ones.
The CareStop Hope After Loss Fund was established to help ease this immediate financial burden. Through community donations, grants, and sponsorships, the fund will help eligible families with funeral and memorial expenses after losing a loved one to suicide.
No family should have to face overwhelming grief and unexpected funeral expenses alone.
